Parrotfinch Mug

This hand painted Parrotfinch mug was wheel thrown from high-fire stoneware. it is a unique  piece of functional art. The two birds and foliage were painted using underglazes, in a technique much like watercolour painting. The inside of the piece has a delicate celadon glaze which compliments the tone of the foliage. The outside has a clear glaze over the foliage and the handle. The paintings of the two birds are unglazed and have been sealed with liquid quartz. This piece would bring a beautiful focal point to any home décor, and of course could also be used for enjoying your favourite hot or cold beverage.
