Star Of David Modular Seder Plate

This Star of David Modular Passover Plate was hand built from porcelain. I worked on this design for a while and I’m so thrilled with how it turned out! After the second (glaze) firing, I painted real 22k gold on the inner corners of each plate and put it in the kiln for a third firing, so that when placed together, it forms a central, gold Star of David. As I didn’t write the names of the Passover ‘Simanim’on the plates, this set could also be used for the Rosh Hashana Seder or for anything else. I love to think of this as a family heirloom, being passed through the generations! It comes with a seventh, spare plate. This piece is hand wash only and mustn’t be put in the microwave as it has real gold on it.

At the start of this terrible time, it was important to me as an artist to visually express my love for our Homeland and for our People. I thought of this motif of interconnected Stars of David, as a way to symbolize our interconnectivity, our perseverance and our strength. I carved the pattern into a piece of linoleum and then used it to make the raised pattern in porcelain and stoneware clay. I created a collection of pieces using this raised texture, including this Passover plate.

The collection includes 2 mugs, an assortment of stoneware trays, a serving plate and bowl, a Havdalah Set, an oil Chanukkah Menorah and a porcelain platter. All of the pieces are dishwasher safe but I do recommend hand washing hand-made ceramics.
